Position Description Therapeutic day treatment – TDT
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Therapeutic Day Treatment (TDT) is a service that offers structured therapeutic interventions to young people who have mental, emotional, or behavioral issues. These young people have been diagnosed with conditions that are consistent with the TDT service and are causing serious functional impairments in their daily lives. TDT provides treatment interventions during school hours or as a supplement to the school day or year. The service includes assessment, medication management assistance, interventions to improve daily living skills or social skills, and individual, group, and family counseling and care coordination. The role of the Therapeutic Day Treatment Counselor is to work within a designated school(s). The counselor follows the school calendar and works during the school’s office hours. The counselor works closely with students and their families to create treatment plans and provide individual and group therapy, crisis intervention, care coordination, and family connection. This is a 10-month position within the school system.
MAJOR DUTIES:
- Provides behavioral coaching, emotional support/limits, and psychoeducation to children and/or families; focus areas include (but are not limited to) training/skill building in parenting, behavioral management, problem-solving, self-management, social interaction, academic education, independent living/self-care, and employment/job searching.
- Coordinates services with all providers, including the case manager, in-home therapist, private provider, other professionals, agencies, neighborhood associations, and resources.
- Participates in the treatment team, school, and FAPT staffing. Presents information on observations of child/family behavior and functioning. Identifies family strengths, weaknesses, areas of stability and instability, and progress toward treatment goals.
- May provide transportation for purposes of coordination.
- Completes documentation as required.
- Attends required supervision, training, and other required meetings.
- Reads all agency communication (i.e. Ten, the Region Ten newsletter, E-mail, etc.).
- Complete other administrative duties as assigned.
- CPR and First Aid; license and good driving record
